The Director Mila - Antique Black Lacquer Paper Mache Letter Folio Blotter

The Director Mila is a stunning and rare handmade Victorian paper mache ink blotter / letter folio. (Needs restoring)

She is larger than average size to fit A4 paper finished in traditional black lacquer and lined in its original blue floral printed paper, with a folio sleeve on one size and leather gusset

The styling gold gilding design is typical Regency era central water fountain , birds flowers, urns, swags and swirls and amaranthus wisteria type plants. There is a lot going on in her artwork.

Both side have mother of pearl balls at each corner, which act as proactive feet when laid.

Hope has some general wear due to age and use, small chip in one corner. seam in folded gusset has 2cm tear (see photo). Her gilding in excellent condition

Her front and back are no longer attached as she would have had a fabric / leather gusset holding them together.
