The Punk Anton Tyler is an early Victorian silver plated argyle.

This was used to keep gravy warm. The double walled design to allow the outside to be filled with hot water.

His separate interior hold the gravy, his curved spout is used for pouring from the bottom, which allowed the gravy to be drawn off from underneath the layer of fat that settled on the top.

His side handle is wrapped in wicker.

Simple, elegant design with a gadroon border on both the top and bottom rim.

His makers mark for Wilson & Sharp of Edinburgh Scotland stamped underneath.

Has some wear to his silver plating surface along with internal wear and scratches

Fine piece of unusual antique dinning wear

Anton dates 1850c

John Campbell (1723-1806), the fifth Duke of Argyll, who commissioned the first piece to maintain the warmth of the gravy in its vessel.

Many were converted into coffee & teapots, making them rare.
