The Director Cher - Victorian Brass Balancing Scales

Cher is a large balancing scales

She is freestanding with a thick weighted central brass column

Both her formed wire supports are fixed to circular trays. These hook on and off the iron balancing beam.

Although Cher is in great condition, and balance working well. She is looked upon as a decorative or display item rather than to use. 

Her maker is Charpentier of Paris which is marked on the trays.

Cher shows some signs of usage.

She dates 1890 and is French 

This type of scale was used in delicatessens or pharmacies
