The Director Richie features an image of three men, likely singers or dancers in costume, from the Russian play Don Cossack Chorus & Dance. This commercial copper printing plate, dating back to the early 20th century, offers a glimpse into the era’s cultural life. These photographic images were transferred onto custom copper plates, arranged on pages using pins—evident from the visible holes. By this time, copper plate printing had advanced significantly, enabling mass production of newspapers and magazines. Ideal for decorative use, these plates can be framed without glass, turned into coasters or trivets, or collected as unique wall tiles. Circa 1920.
