Jay is a large stunning hand painted Victorian paper mache stationery box.

He is finished in traditional black / dark brown lacquer, features intricate hand-painted floral designs and gilt decoration, with floral spray, garlands and scrolls.

He is a heavy piece, with divided interior, with compartment sections and drawers. Detailed mother of pearl drawer pull, the other two have been restored in leather. His drop down front does not lock, the weight of his lid keeps his front closed.

These collectible boxes are not often decorated as much as this one. You will find he is fully decorated on all sides including his internal doors

Her pretty floral design is decorated in red and white flowers all hand painted on three sides, along with a sweet buttery on the front of her tray

Jay has lots general wear to the lacquer and structure and has been recently restored into his usable condition. A sympathetic restoration still maintaining the age, wear and patina of the decoration.

This is still a beautiful rare and functional box,

He is 19th-century Victorian 

His colours are truly stunning and vibrant especially inside, a beautiful useable item and would look stunning on a  desk or shelf.
