The Director Evan features a detailed portrait of an older gentleman, captured with precision on a pair of small vintage copper printing plates. Both plates are nearly identical, showcasing the craftsmanship involved in their creation.

The imagery is believed to be connected to the Russian play Don Cossack Chorus & Dance, reflecting cultural and theatrical significance. These plates offer a unique glimpse into historical printing techniques and theatrical iconography, making them valuable for collectors and experts interested in vintage printing artefacts and Russian cultural heritage.

He is a commercial copper printing plate, dating from the early 20th Century. The images here offering an insight into life at the time.

These were basically photographic images transposed onto purpose made copper plates, which were then arranged and fixed at whatever point of the page they were to be used at by means of pins (the holes of which can still be seen)

The plates show how far copper plate printing had come by the early 20th century, with images such as these being used to print off great volumes of newspaper and magazine articles

Use these unique plates purely for decorate effect and add non glass frame, or more functional coasters and trivets. Or maybe collect a few as a decorative project as wall tiles. 

Plates dates 1920c

The Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff was a renowned male chorus known for its powerful a cappella singing of Russian sacred and secular music, as well as Cossack folk songs. Founded in 1921 by Serge Jaroff, the choir gained international fame, touring extensively and captivating audiences with their rich harmonies and Cossack attire. While the choir initially focused on vocal performances, Cossack dancing was eventually incorporated into their shows, adding another layer of visual spectacle.
