The antique copper printing plate features a portrait of a gentleman in a suit, likely connected to the Russian play Don Cossack Chorus & Dance. This commercial copper printing plate dates back to the early 20th century and offers a glimpse into the era’s life. These photographic images were transferred onto custom copper plates, positioned on pages using pins—evident from the remaining holes. By this time, copper plate printing had advanced significantly, enabling mass production of newspapers and magazines. Ideal for decorative use, these plates can be framed without glass, turned into coasters or trivets, or collected as unique wall tiles.
Circa 1920.
