Georgian Grand Tour Intaglios Seals.

One of my favourite recent finds. This is a fine example of very rare collection of small metal seals.

These beautifully hand carved depicting intricate classical designs of historical figure portraits and silhouettes.

These miniature relief carvings were popular as souvenirs during the 17th-19th centuries, particularly among those undertaking the Grand Tour.

These intaglios, often depicting classical or mythological scenes, were purchased as mementos of travel and reminders of the art and architecture encountered on the tour. They were often set in signet rings or fob seals, and some were even used as wax seals for letter sending.

Grand Tour was a traditional trip through Europe, particularly Italy, undertaken by wealthy young men to broaden their education and cultural exposure.

Very unusual to find them in cast bronze. 

The have age and wear on some of the deigns, through age and use.
