Antique Glass Sugar Crusher

A petite but robust glass tool from the early 19th century. I discovered these from a charming dealer who had no idea what they were, but loved them as much as I did. Their elegant yet intriguing form, immediately catching my eye. These glass crushers were essential tools in Georgian households, breaking down hardened sugar into manageable pieces for tea and cocktails.

Sugar originally came in large hard lumps and was very expensive, the sugar crusher was used to grind it into granules off the edge
