The Mixologist Josh is a beautiful large antique lacquer sewing box. Japanese export
His rounded sarcophagus shape with wide canted corners and a hinged lid.
Josh is expertly hand crafted, has lift out tray compliments and lids. His mother of pearl and abalone shell artwork detail represents countless hours of skilled Intricate and detailed work. His inlay design can be foubd on all sides, including his compartment lids.
He was made for export to Britain when Chinoiserie was all the rage in the 19th century.
His inside is also finished in the traditional black lacquer. Paw feet on his base have been removed, so this box sit flat.
He has a broken brass lock and traditional shape inlayed escutcheon, no original key.
Josh is in great condition with minimal wear of chips and scratches to his surface wonderful condition for his age
