
The Mixologist Ian is a wonderful distressed antique oriental paper mache lacquer jewellery box.
His rounded sarcophagus shape with wide canted corners and a hinged lid.
Ian is expertly hand crafted, exterior finely painted on all sides with classic chinoiserie style landscape and figure scenes, in gilt also including finely detailed flowers and leaves on a black lacquer base.
His inside is also finished in the traditional black lacquer. Paw feet on his base have been removed, so this box sit flat.
He has a brass lock and diamond shape inlayed escutcheon, no original key.
Ian has excessive of wear to his surface, with his original finish very well worn, there are warps and shrinkage, and missing lacquerware along his corners from age use and natural light. Charming antique condition.
