
Duncan is a very rare design of porcelain dishes / cup plate
Very unusual pieces and the most shallow cups we have come across
The makers mark on the based is Noritake which is a traditional Japanese porcelain maker.
We have dated Duncan as 1908 - 1920c
He is delicately hand painted with gold gilt internal boarder work
Duncan is sold as a pair and is the perfect selection for wedding gift or just adding chutney.
History of the cup plate; A small plate on which users set their tea or coffee cup while drinking from the saucer. Between about 1825 and about 1865, it was fashionable to drink from saucers, and cups were placed on cup plates to avoid staining the tablecloth.
