He is finished in traditional black lacquer, with this insides metal lined to keep its valuable contents fresh eg, tea cigars, tobacco
Tom has an Imperial prize medals mark to underside of her lid, faintly printed.
Made by Russiaby Vishnyakov a famous manufacturer of lacquers of the 19th century. Vishnyakov and his sons produced a variety of papier-mâché lacquer ware items including: snuffboxes, tea boxes, eyeglass cases and matchboxes. The Vishnyakov workshop flourished into the mid-1800s.
Tom as some minor wear and obvious crazing to her lacquer with a small chip to her corner lid, otherwise she is in good condition.
