The Mixologist Tamsyn is a very pretty antique oriental paper mache lacquer tea caddy / jewellery box.
Her rounded sarcophagus shape with wide canted corners and a hinged lid.
Tamsyn is expertly hand crafted, exterior finely painted on all sides with classic chinoiserie style landscape and naive figure scenes, in gilt also including finely detailed flowers, moths and motifs on a black lacquer base.
Her inside is also finished in the traditional black lacquer. Paw feet on her base have been removed, so this box sit flat.
She has a brass lock and diamond shape inlayed escutcheon, no original key.
Tamsyn has lots of wear to her surface, with her original finish very well worn, there are warps and shrinkage, and cracks separations from age use and natural light. Charming antique condition.
This is a highly collectable, authentic and striking item decorative and functional
